Dermot Weld notched his third win of the 2012 Galway Festival in only the fourth race of the meeting as the 11/1 shot Midnight Music stormed to an impressive two-and-three-quarter length victory in what was a cracking renewal of the Carlton Hotel Galway City Handicap.

Derek Lavery travelled eyecatchingly well into the contest on board the well-backed Clarach, but he was soon in trouble turning for home and it was Midnight Music that found that kick to pull away and land another contest for the master of Rosewell House with the fast-finishing Cry For The Moon bagging second place from Clarach.

The Thomas Mullins-trained Fosters Cross stormed to victory in Monday's Blue Riband event, the Galway City Handicap, by four lengths under a brilliant ride from Colin Motherway.

Sent to the front early, Fosters Cross kept a steadied gallop throughout and then round the home turn upped the pace and noone could live with the nine-year-old.  Cry For The Moon got within four lengths of the winner at 12/1, but it was a mere procession from the Mullins raider, who was ultra-impressive
